I am a Dem, but unlike You People we are not Borg and do not have a collective consciousness of all that has been done by our group. Instead we have consciousness of ourselves as individuals.
I had to look up the Borg stuff.
Now, which party likes nation-building again? This is so confusing.

Yes, but you wish you did because staying on message would help you to win elections. Just ask Ty.

England Sex Tape
Although I have no interest in seeing any more pics of the Iraqi prisoners and believe releasing them is a violation of the GC, I really want to see the Lynndie England sex tapes. Just thought I would share.

If I remember correctly, when we gave up the "party of fiscal restraint" decoder rings and badges to them, they got the "party of the individual" sets thrown in free. Thankfully, they still can't do "world domination" for shit.

We're still doing the cost-benefit analysis on that one.

There's a snarky rejoinder in there somewhere, but as Hank has said, we'll let that softball float softly by.

Well that makes sense. We cannot be the party of insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, big business AND the individual. Adam Smith would be proud.

Who said it was sinister? I was just observing that if the 493,782 citizens of Wyoming deserve to get three votes in the Senate, the 570,898 citizens of Washington D.C. deserve to get two votes. Not Me is still ducking this question.

I thought conservatives now think we should go to war to stop totalitarian regimes for torturing and otherwise committing human rights violations against Muslims. Maybe bilmore can explain why we should fight in Iraq to save Iraqis from Hussein, but not in Kosovo to save Albanians from Milosivic. Surely there's some principled distinction, other than that Clinton was a Democrat and Bush is a Republican.

Not Bilmore but I can explain it to you. The distinction is whether it is in the strategic interest of the US to send troops.
In Iraq, it is in our strategic interests if our goals can be accomplished. In Kosovo, it is in the strategic interest of Europe to quell the violence, but doesn't really affect the US's strategic interests. We did it as a favor to Europe. With Iraq, establishing a democracy in an Arab muslim country in the middle east will go a long way toward turning the tide in the war on terror because of the resulting domino effect.

What's your deal with this? Is your point that when someone dies days before the election, only the other guy can be elected? Our local elections in California happen all the time with dead candidates elected; if the dead guy wins, a special election is held.
|
1) The Constitution, by placing limitations on who may run for Senate (30, 9 year citizenship, etc), infers that one should be ALIVE to be seated;
2) Senate Rules as presently written make this abundantly clear;
3) By leaving a dead guy on the ballot, they knew they would get the sympathy vote - and don't give me the "it was too late crap" - the Dems threw Frank Lautenberg on the ballot in a heartbeat when the loss of that NJ was assured.
4) Special election? Was there a special election? Or are you counting those 3 illegal hours that the inner city polls remained open.
In sum, in Attorney General Ashcroft, you reap what you sow.
