From what I understand about the science involved, the effects of the Bush Administration's wetlands policies contributed in some degree to New Orleans' problems. Since I gather that you agree on the science, I take it that your objection to people pointing this out is that we ought not be trying to score partisan points during a national emergency. On one hand, I agree, and was trying to say something like that yesterday. On the other hand, the Bush Administration has gotten such a free ride from the press for years now that it's nice to see, e.g., journalists actually pointing out that the president was dead wrong when he said that no one thought the levees would break. And this admininistration has hardly been adverse to exploiting 9/11 and the war in Iraq to score partisan points.

It definitely brings home the lesson that the emergency preparedness kit needs more than fresh water and general first aid items.

Note to self: Get more guns this weekend.

Kerry?

So has the Clinton admin. And Bush I. And Reagan. And Nixon.
Is it your belief that Bush II just continued on with Clinton's wetlands policies? 'Cause three seconds on Google brought me to this, from the Congressional Research Service in 2002:
  • Both the Clinton and earlier Bush Administrations had made wetland protection a priority, but the current Bush Administration has not announced any comprehensive wetlands policies.

Please tell me you aren't surprised by this.

Oh the repayment is warranted. No doubt. But I hate that sort of dishonesty coming from either side.

And I don't buy the scientific claim that Bush's policies contributed to the wetalnds problem. From what I read, thats a problem that will take decades to reverse.

Fear Not. Kofi Annan is urging the UN to lend a hand.

Also, unconfirmed reports have Jesse Jackson touching down in Baton Rouge within the hour.
Is he bringing water?

Harry Connick Jr. brought water.

Maybe if you're talking about Senator Prescott Bush.

BBC (scroll down).

National Geographic (note date: 2001).

Perhaps, though, it's all Bush's fault because, as he did with 9/11, he had plenty of time to reverse the errors of the previous admin.

Like global warming, it needs more study? Do you reading anything other than circulars from real estate developers?
