Newsflash!
My ultra-lib neighbors, who invited me to A Howard Dean fundraiser just a little over a year ago, moved to a beautiful million dollar home in SF.
Question for the libs here- Since you are so all about helping the poor, why do you buy million dollar homes? Would it be more progressive to raise your children in a poorer neighborhood where they get a more accurate view of the mean that will result from your socialist utopia, and then give the rest of the million to programs to help the poor. That is, quit writing blogs or reading them and actually do some of wwhat you preach is good?

If you believe the only reason for armed intervention if another country is if they pose a national security risk you are the one most "bereft of morality and brains" than anyone on this board. So I guess you think think that Clintons involvements in Serbia, Somalia and Haiti were all wrong? None of these countrys posed a national security threat to us.
I wish he were only annoying. He is the largerst human righs abuser in this hemisphere.
Unlike you I don't think we should judge whether or not an invasion is justified based on the rest of the world's opinion.
1) So did bombing Serbia make us a roque nation?
2) If you are witnesseing a a rape is it wrong to stop the rape if that rapist poses no threat to you? If it is OK to stop the rape, and Castro is raping his nation every day, what is wrong with stopping him?

Many of your points are well taken. I won't respond point-by-point (other than to note that your inability to distinguish Serbia and Cuba means you made the right decision in leaving the practice of law) because you don't seem to get that this really isn't about Cuba*. The "justifications" you provide for an unprovoked invasion of Cuba heads down a dangerously slippery slope.
The reasons you've just given could (and would) be adopted by other nations whose intentions may not be as lily white as ours. India could invade Pakistan, China could invade the oil-rich 'Stans, hell, Saddam could have made similar arguments for invading Kuwait. Any objections we would have would be countered by pointing the finger to our actions in Cuba.
What you are advocating is a dangerous and irresponsible approach to the use of military power. If we don't use restraint, how are we to persuade others to be similarly restrained.
*I have to ask, though: Aren't we having enough problems with the Arab Street? Would we really want to deal with the Arab Street and the Latin American Street at the same time?

I think you may have a crippling misunderstanding of what a million dollars actually buys in San Francisco.

I'm troubled by the use of "lily white" as a metaphor for "good." Did you get that from a Senator Byrd talking points memo?

I am pissed he's not hiring. I've changed to a constructive criticist here so that Spank might consider me for a constuction foreman job. He wouldn't want someone just mean, he'd want someone who could get his guys to improve, you know? Now I've been nice all year and not sure why.

Maybe if you hadn't used your teeth, he would have been hiring.
That was a helpful hint, not a mean thing.

They are hypocrits and there is a closeted streak of bias against the poor in them. They would rather take the money of hardworking americans to fund their socialistic vision than to put their money where their mouth is. Remember, a Grand Cyclops of the Klan is their moral conscience.

SS has been using racially prejoritive terms here. I don't know if that is because Senator Byrd has made it okay to hate, or if he was always ignorant of the feelings of others. The Dems sure have come a long way since when they elected the first black president. i assume Clinton was quick to censure Senator Byrd. Was the Senator kicked out of the leadership when Clinton was in office?

I don't live in San Francisco, and my home (although it has appreciated quite nicely) is not worth $1M or more.
I will move to West Oakland when you, Slave, Penske and club all enlist in the Army and volunteer to promote democracy in Iraq. It's not as dangerous now, since I understand that things are going great there.

Penske and slave can't be in the army. One has a weight problem and one a sexual orientation problem, or so I've heard. Me? I wouldn't take a job away from an uneducated kid looking for a way to better himself.

Uh, the helping the poor thing switched to your side. Did you get the memo? You're the ones with the religious right. Surely they've all read their bibles and the multiple, multiple passages about helping the poor.
We're godless heathens and don't have that handy refrence material to keep us on track. Good luck with it!
