Sidd and I were going to go to NYC to see Spamelot but I haven't gotten us good seats yet (so much for my connections). Anyone seen it?

Actually, I agree with almost everything you said in that post. There is one thing I disagree with, but no matter.
Btw: Once the battlelines have been drawn there is no agreeing. Ty, can you talk to Wonk, he is not obeying the rules. Just like there is no crying in baseball, this is the politics board, there is no being reasonable here.

You will spend the entire play thinking John Cleese played it better.

But maybe that's just my inner Python fanatic talking.

"Activist" originally meant, one willing to go beyond the words of the Constitution in order to rule on what it "ought to" have said, or what it "meant to" say, or what emotions and feelings were hidden in the penumbras and the byways of the heart of the Constitution or some such idiocy. Ty wants to redefine it as, "willing to ignore some precedent". But, when groups of Constitution-rewriting justices have wrought their harm, it's not "activism" to take it all back to the words. If you think that that argument doesn't work, then it's a simple matter if choosing a new word for it. Let's try "honest reader of the C" v. "lying sack of I-wish-I-had-a-penumbra-of-my-own."
That's a legitimate argument and a good point.

Perhaps through such redefinition, the term has come to take on a broader meaning now (I think) among the general populace to refer to results-oriented judging. BY that definition, putting up folks with the intent to reverse Roe v. Wade (for example) could be seen as "activist".

However, I think that part of the blame for this lies with some conservatives (including GOP politicians) who scream "judicial activism" every time a court overturns a a statute or government action that they like.

No, no, no. You too? Geez. My point was simply that I luv to see the D's now complaining about too few troops. It's simply one more sign that they consider the average voter to be a dolt with no memory. Do you think these contradictory positions, taken with a view as to "what sounds zippy RIGHT NOW?", actually improve their credibility?
See my later post. I guess I did misunderstand you.

But my post was funny damnit! I thought the brass balled sodomy image particularly effective.

P.S. Nothing wrong with raising the criticism now if they are right. (It not necessarily contradictory to initially say: "Don't do it!" and then to later say: "Since you did it, don't screw it up!")

And with this, we lose another innocent to the inexorable coarsening of our board culture. I'll pray for you in this weekend's services, SAM.

Is that most recent edition:

or your personal copy:
