It keeps getting worse

for Maurice Clarett.

Ohio State's Clarett Faces Misdemeanor

COLUMBUS - Ohio State star running back Maurice Clarett will be charged with lying about items that were stolen from him out of a car, a city attorney spokesman said Tuesday.

Prosecutors and Ohio State University police will file a misdemeanor falsification charge against him in Franklin County Municipal Court, city attorney spokesman Scott Varner said.

The court will issue a summons for Clarett to appear within 30 days. The charge carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail and $1,000 fine.

Clarett has already been suspended indefinitely from the team, and probably will not play for the Buckeyes this season. He is also being investigated by the NCAA.

It's Over?

for Maurice Clarett.

I'm not sure whether this was rumored or a done deal, but I think that OSU is withdrawing his scholarship. There must be way more to this than meets the eye. From what this I heard on the news this morning, it's likely they'll let him go to play elsewhere.

This is the latest I've seen in print.

Say goodbye to the repeat.

i guess that since maurice clarett has sued the nfl, it is now on-topic as ohio related legal news.

I thought about posting info on the suit, but given the fact that I was the ONLY poster for a while, I figured "why bother?" It is nice to see you around again NYD.

yet this board still had more activity than the detroit board (speaking of which, wouldn't that be a better venue for maurice clarett than new york - they could fill the jury with michigan fans).

personally i blame jerry springer for not running, that would have been sure to attract some penske socks

Judge hopes to wrap up Clarett case by Feb. 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Lawyers for Maurice Clarett and the NFL met in New York on Tuesday, with the judge saying he hoped to rule by Feb. 1 on the suspended Ohio State tailback's lawsuit against the league.

Clarett is challenging the NFL's rule that a player must be out of high school three years to be eligible for the draft.

Clarett's attorney, Alan C. Milstein, said Tuesday the two sides set a timeline for legal briefs to be filed during a conference with the judge in open court.

The attorneys for Clarett will file their briefs by Oct. 27, with the NFL answering by Nov. 21. Clarett's lawyers will then reply to the NFL by Dec. 10, Milstein said.

hmm, it appears that the only topic which is being discussed here is football (do pigskins go with giant inflatable rats?)

but i guess if football is going to be a topic we can always discuss something really important - namely when will osu finally lose a game.

i'm thinking the iowa game

I'm always ready to talk about things Ohio. However, with the limited number of posters, and the fact that some of those posters seem to disappear for extended periods of time, it makes it difficult to maintain interesting discussion threads.

But I do agree that Ohio State's winning streak may soon be in danger of being broken.

well it kind of looks like that almost all of the regional boards here are dying or dead. of course, the infirmation ohio board was never all that active either. but look at the dc board here which has way more regular posters than this one and was always a lot more active.

but in any case, if you have something good post it and maybe spookyfish or i will reply.

Jer-ry! Jer-ry! Jer-ry!

Woo Hoo! Looks like Springer may run for Guv!!!

Springer May Run for Ohio Governor

AKRON, Ohio - It seemed Jerry Springer's final thought on politics was, he wasn't going to get involved again. Now he's talking about running for governor of Ohio.

The talk show host, who's a Democrat, spent about $1 million this year to determine voter support for a possible U.S. Senate run in a primary, and eventually a possible campaign against Republican incumbent Sen. George Voinovich.

Springer decided against it in August, saying he realized he couldn't be elected as long as he remains host of raunchy "The Jerry (news - web sites) Springer Show."

But on Thursday, Springer told students at the University of Akron that he's open to the possibility of running for Ohio governor in 2006. If he decides to join the race, he'll quit doing his Chicago-based syndicated series, which he called the "silliest show ever."

More than 300 students gathered at the university's student center to hear the 59-year-old former Cincinnati mayor urge students to become more politically active. He said education would be a major plank in any future campaign platform.

"Education has to be the top priority of Ohio," Springer said. "If I ran for governor, I would have a clear commitment to early childhood education, particularly in troubled school districts."

That proposition is no more rEdiculous than some of the other so-called leaders we've had in this state over the last several years (or California, for that matter).

of course, 2006 may be too late to run, because by that point voters may finally get tired of voting for celeberties. of course, given that springer was mayor of one of ohio's largest cities he is a much more creditable candidate than the likes of arnold. of course, jesse the body ventura who was previously mayor of some minneapolis suburb was a much more creditiable candidate than arnold whose main qualification for office seemed to be that he was abusive of women.

gee did i break the bored again by implying that many of arndol's supporters in california voted for him because of his misogyny and abuse of women rather than inspite of it? i'm sooo sorry - i promise i'll stick to discussing ohio law firms and ocassionally thongs
