Listen, I already admitted it was hypocrisy for me to enjoy the World Cup in spite of my full knowledge that FIFA remains a disgraceful corrupt organization, that the current World Cub was obtained through bribery, and built on the bodies of an unthinkable number of migrant workers.
But did you see that second Brazil goal?

Do you still watch that highlight DVD of the Charlottesville riot after Thanksgiving dinner every year, for the laughs?

No, but I did read a news article about that second Brazil goal:

US sponsorship fucks up lots of stuff. We went to the Beijing Olympics in 2008. On the main grounds the only food option was an enormous McDonald's. People coming to see elite athletes were forced to go hungry or eat very unhealthy food.

If you are caught between the remorseless Scylla and Charibdis of mass-market industrial capitalism and people's desires to eat what is bad for them, not sure that the US sponsorship makes all that much difference. And Budweiser is a Belgian company now.

Especially when it's El Tri
Love the World Cup craziness of seeing a team win a soccer game and look absolutely crushed because they didn't get another goal to move on.

What a game! They did the near impossible. Not only were they were winning but, between them and Argentina, had erased a four goal differential. I wonder if anyone had even figured out the “fair play” results vis-vis Poland until that point. Ultimately, it was too little too late, but that second half was the kind of relentless, desperate, all out attacking play that makes me love the game.

Weird that deal doesn't come up more when we are talking about lax merger enforcement of the past.

What doesn't make me love the game is when Greggg brings in subs.
