This is good.
Hell, this is better than the Jean Cocteau schtick I stole from you.

SF allowed Italians to take credit for cioppino, Rice-a-Roni and the martini.
Former New Yorkers are unsufferably theatrical about what they have voluntarily given up by leaving Manhattan. A friend complained to me that the problem with Burlingame was you couldn't get a good steak at 2 a.m. No shit? The lack of all-night steakhouses might escape the notice of the planning commission for a while.

It is especially insufferable in light of the fact that all the best of New York is to be found in Brooklyn. FACT.

You can claim, however, to have perfected clerical gay ass-fucking. See, e.g., Inferno, Canto XV.

Unless you're talking about the soft market of the uber-mansions, I wasn't aware that RE prices there have actually gone down. Is that what you're saying?

A total of 11,470 homes and condominiums were sold in the nine-county region last month, down 11.9 percent from June and down 10.8 percent from July of 2004, according to DataQuick Information Systems.
"No records were set last month. Does that mean the market is turning, probably not," DataQuick President Marshall Prentice said. "Sure, July was the first month this year that Bay Area home prices didn't reach a new peak but more important than reaching new heights is how sustainable the market is. Right now things are looking pretty good."
The median home price in June was $606,000, down 0.7 percent from June and up 17.9 percent from July 2004. The typical monthly mortgage payment for Bay Area buyers was $2,652 in July, up from $2,651 in June and 2,361 in July 2004.
Indications of a downturn remain largely absent. Foreclosure rates are low, down payment sizes are stable and there have been no significant shifts in the market mix, according to DataQuick.
Marin County had the highest median home price in the Bay Area at $806,000 and Solano County had the lowest at $450,000.
reported as of August

Its also foggy and cold in other months. Maybe nine days of year where one can wear a bikini at beach. No hot sultry summer nights. Traffic. Very transient community. Completely insane housing market. Too many patchers who think they are so cool for living here (though kudos for escaping if they can maintain it). No real edge or bite to this town. No clear cut seasons. People with annoying southern cal accents. Express buses have fucked up hours. SPorts are on at weird times. Europe is really fucking far away.
but there is a lot that is grreat about it as well. I particularly enjoy the eucaplytus scent of the Marin air, the lack of humidity, the general lack of umbrella carriers on the sidewalk. Good margaritas. Its alwayws an acceptable time to have a cocktail here. Good dog city.

And everyone laughed at me when I said I was scared of the Buck that comes around here. Who is laughing now? Anyone is welcome to come to my house and try and chase him away the next time he comes around.
