Feb Bar Results
From the Ohio Supreme Court Website:
OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE RESULTS OF THE FEBRUARY 2003 OHIO BAR EXAMINATION
On February 25, 26, and 27, 2003, the Ohio Bar Examination was administered in Columbus. Today results of that examination are being released. Out of 551 applicants, 294 applicants (53%) received passing scores; out of 220 first time applicants, 65% received passing scores. The names and addresses of the successful applicants appear on the attached list.
The question is, is it a good day in spooky-land?

I totally agree. As for the resume, I'll pm you about it sometime soon. Even if it's just an opportunity to pick your brain, that would be great.
Maybe NYD will now post a picture of herself in a thong as a "reward". (I know, I know -- passing is it's own reward).

there is something weirdly appropriate about talking about dildos and guns together
could it be the fact that guns and dildos both serve as penis extension or substitute penises?
:bang:
(such an appropriate smilie for this post.)

Thanks for your concern. I didn't know about this until someone from work came in with a copy of the PD and asked me the same thing. Apparently, the problem was with one question on the MBE where people who had answered incorrectly were given credit for a correct answer. If I remember the formula correctly, the MBE was scaled as follows:
.89 x MBE raw score X factor (1.25 or something like that)
I think I'm okay. I assume the Supreme Court would have notified me by now and fortunately, I had some cushion. I didn't "kill" the exam, but I had some cushion.
That has to make those affected feel just sick to their stomachs.
The ETS is going to have some 'splainin to do. I assume because it was the MBE where the problem was, all of the jurisdictions will be dealing with this issue. Those poor people. That is not an experience I would want to have to go through again.
In a related note, if any of you could remember your bar results, I'm curious about something. When I reviewed my scores, it was as if the world had turned upside-down. In areas where I considered myself stronger, based upon my level of general knowledge and law school grades, I performed in some cases much less well than I would have expected and in a few cases, excelled in what I would consider my "weaker" areas.
All I can figure is that during the course of my review, I hit those areas harder, because I had initially scored so miserably on the practice questions. Did anyone else experience this, or should I be rethinking the type of law I want to pursue? (Mind you, I am making that last statement with my tongue firmly implanted in my cheek).
The swearing in is Friday. I am so unbelievably pumped right now since it has now sunk in that I never have to take that dismal exam again. That is what has to make the situation so much worse for the 29, because at first, it doesn't register that the results are real. Unfortunately, I'm certain they received the announcement after they finally started to realize that they were out of the woods.

mr. violins, your link does not work.
and mr. spookyfish, its good to hear that you were not effected by this obviously horrible situation
but i wonder if the people who thought that they passed, but turns out that they didn't would have some sort of action against ets (maybe negligent infliction of emotional distress). maybe you can get your first case, mr. spookyfish

Sorry about the link Doll. I'm not sure why it didn't work. As for NIED, my recollection is that Ohio Courts limit it as a cause of action to by-standers who witness some awful horrific event that cause them severe mental anguish. I'm not sure if goofing on the scoring of the exam would qualify.

maybe intentional infliction of emotional distress then. i suspect that it would be hard to prove that they intentionally made an error in the scoring though.
maybe there can be some sort of contract claim. can you claim that once the bar examiners said that you passed, that they are estopped from saying otherwise?

Congratulations on passing and further congratulations on passing by a wide enough margin that they can't take it away from you.
I experienced the same thing that you did on the essay scores. The topics where I cited cases received generally lower scores than the topics where I largely had no clue and just made things up. Wierd.
I, too, would enjoy MND rewarding you for achieving a passing score with a picture of herself in a thong. That would brighten up my day (assuming that MND is as asthetically pleasing as she reports).
