I say this only as Spanky's friendly acquaintance/internet pal.
A kindly old British urban man. Next he'll be playing with the pretty orange snakes.

Has this got something to do with global warming?
This has to do with the fact that we've killed the deer's natural predators, or reduced their range quite a bit, and the deer have figured out that they're safer near people, because the wolves and coyotes and mountain lions and cougars and catamounts and pumas and lynx and bobcats and bears and sasquatch and all don't like to hit suburbia, because people are rough on them. I believe there are more deer around now that there were in colonial times.

Actually, packs of dogs are a big threat to deer. They'll kill them for fun. But this is less likely in affluent communities that keep a handle on the dog situation.

I'm going to merge this thread back with the main thread, which is getting lonely.

Something must be seriously wrong with me, because I'm waiting intensely for the next deer update. Seriously.

I'm afraid a pack of wayward poodles is going to make their way into the apple orchard in SPank's backyard and slaughter the deer for fun. What would the cats do?

You need to hold a cat in front of your face and sing to the deer (as if the cat is singing) "I know what deer like, I know what deer want . . ."

And, I don't know these people, but:

Not much to report. They are eating the apples on the ground now. I don't think there are any more apples they can reach on the apple tree. Except for the Buck, he is pretty tall, but he doesn't seem to be interested in the Apples. He seems intent on not letting me get my mail. Cats are sitting in the window watching the deer pretty intently. I am just waiting for one of those cougars to appear.

Ty:

This is a fucking goldmine. This is the biggest thing to hit the SF/SV boards since its inception. It's like if Michael Jackson was on trial for molesting Scott Peterson who was engaged to the Runaway Bride who actually got kidnapped in Aruba. Run with it buddy, keep the hits coming, we must regain our dominance over the other regional boards.
