Update on Oppenheimer

In February, Oppenheimer announced plans to spin off its Silicon Valley office, citing differences in the Minnesota and California technology markets.

Minnesota has a technology market? I was always under the impression that the only things that come out of Minnesota were Sugar Beets, Soybeans and Cheese. As such, it seems that their market does not consist so much of technology as, er, farming.
But what do I know. Perhaps dairyology spinoffs will drive us out of recession.

As for the closing of their SV office, most of us in the neighborhood knew it was far too big and shiny to last. After all, how can a firm with no SV tech practice pay rent on Page Mill Road?

Ahh, well. Congrats to those who were able to jump ship. Condolences to those left holding the bag.

Question LawTalkers Thong Comfort

So, has anyone actually tried the LawTalkers thong? I was thinking of getting one for a friend, but I wanted to make sure it was comfortable enough for her to wear.

Any experiences?

By the way, it's FRIDAY! Who wants to buy me a drink?

Truth is, there ain't much happening.

But I'd be curious to know what's happening with the incoming summer class. Have firms gone back to the days of "look to your left, look to your right...."? Lunch at Chevy's instead of Aqua? Actual work?

Yes, yes, I see it now:

The scene is dark. A lone man sits on a stool in the center of the stage. A solo violin begins playing mournfully somewhere in the background. Seven candles are lit. The spectators see Sidd sighing sadly. With each point he professes, Sidd puffs out a candle. When the final candle is extinguished, the audience, cloaked in darkness, erupts into wild applause.

They now know the sorrows of partnership.

Your post was very funny. However, you can hardly expect us to pay attention here when there's a two-day thread on anal sex over on the FB.

I thought all the talk about anal sex was code for discussing where Brobeck associates are now.

Oh, I must've missed something. All that talk about blow-up dinosaurs has me all hot and bothered.

Speaking of Brobeck

I think I'm glad I haven't been able to check on the FB in a few days. Blow up dinosaurs and anal sex? Sounds like an aisle at Good Vibrations.

But I digress...

The current issue of California Lawyer has an interesting piece on what might have happened at Brobeck. While it's short and written tongue-in-cheek, presenting joking speculation on the nefarious behind-the-scenes theories of how the firm may have fallen, it's interesting that the bar's publication has come out and said "this looks suspicious."

As they've said in response to five million angry letters to the editor, California Lawyer is not published by the State Bar. It's owned by the Daily Journal Corporation.
