Charo, except that Charo might be too intellectual for the role.

Casting call...

Too much attention to the protagonists.

Who plays Tower?

Who plays the composite character? (Fredd Chuang; the 30-something rags-to-riches-to-rags CEO of ePhizzle who goes psycho on the now laid-off GA who caved on Chuang's lockup term back in '99)

Besides, no way can Bullock pull off c2ed. Gotta have someone who seems convincingly witty. How about Helena Bonham Carter?

If you were casting a movie based on these boards and the personality of the socks that inhabit it, who would you cast for whom, and why?

I didn't say it was a particularly fun game....

Fine, I'll start with the SF/SV posters:

sgtclub: David Duchovny
sgtclub: Charles Heston
If I had my choice, it would be Chuck.

Cool. I'll take the Gross Pointe Blank or Grifters Cusack, or even the Serendipity Cusack, even though that's probably after the "all serious" tipping point.

I see C2ed as a Nicole Kidman/Meg Ryan/Julianne Moore/Reece Witherspoon mix.

Atticus as done by the West Win'g Martin Sheen is fantastic, especially if you read the Politics Bd.

Your only real misstep was casting Ed Norton as Sidd. We're gonna have to listen to that shit for weeks now, and he's gonna want to keep acting out scenes from Fight Club. How 'bout William H. Macy instead?

Yeah, I know I could have done better with the casting. I'm thinking Rachel Weisz now for C2ed, rather than Bullock, and perhaps with all of the new dirt coming out about Sidd, I'm open to suggestions. So far, we've got Wilford Brimley/Christian Slater from Ty, William Macy from Gattigap and Gabriel Byrne from AMM.

As for sgtclub, I couldn't decide whether you were a conspiracy theorist or just an unapologetic right winger. I guess Chuck is the call.

Auditions start Monday, so give me your choices before it's too late.

Baby I'm a Star

Ah, gotta love this sort of game. Good way to lose friends and win enemies.

Let's see....

AMM: Jane Kaszmarek
Sidd: Bradley Whitford
Tyrone: Ewan McGregor
Atticus: Ralph Fiennes
Flinty: Judd Nelson
Gattigap: David Hyde Pierce
sgtclub: Christopher Walken
74Otis: Ed O'Neill
Threads: Cate Blanchett
Me: I love Jeanene Garofalo. Or perhaps Kathy Griffin.

Can you just imagine the scintillating dialogue?

Scene I: Sidd as a young law student. He is going through his mail of the day. Lo! A ding letter, from Brobeck. To add insult to injury, the letter is incorrectly addressed, sent to Sid Fench. Sidd resolves to get his sweet revenge.

Scene II: Years later. Inside generic big law firm office with built-in desk and lateral file cabinet. Picture frame on desk still has picture of the generic photogenic family provided by the manufacturer in it. Sidd sits behind the desk, a broad grin spreading over his face as he clicks and clicks and clicks and clicks and... ok, enough, you get the point. [Tight closeup of his computer screen] He is reading the discussion of area law firms among the greedy associates, and begins to frantically type, each swipe of the keyboard like another bullet from his automatic weapon. He hits 'return' and laughs like no other madman has ever laughed before.

Scene III: Various associates gather at the Royal Exchange. Tyrone pulls up his bar stool, orders a gin and tonic. Threads and AMM are deep in discussion over whether Skeletor on The Practice or Gretchen Mol on whatever that crappy show that only made it for 3 episodes was did more of a disservice for the reputation of female lawyers everywhere. Cdeuced and Atticus discuss the nuances of the latest revisions of Manual of Style. Flinty is flirting with the female bartender. Sidd arrives. A cold wind sweeps through the crowd gathered. Sidd announces to the group, "it is done. Wilson and Brobeck are no more!! MOOOowwaahahahahaa." Everyone stops and stares, and then turns back to their conversations.

Sidd: Um, folks, hello? 2 of the biggest firms are no more around? Bueller?

Tyrone: Thanks for the newsflash. We knew that already. Read about it last night on the boards. So yesterday's news, dude. Get yourself a beer.

Atticus: You're way behind on this one. You partners think you're so smart, but really are just too antiquated in how you derive your information sources. Welcome to the new age of power research.

AMM: Aw, it's ok Sidd [bat eyelashes]. Let me buy you a beer.

Flinty: Partners suck.

Sidd: But it's because of me! Me! Me! I found Brobeck's achilles heels and exploited it! Mooowahahahahahaha!

C2ed: I'm glad you've decided to take up pedicures as your next career, but you need to lighten up on the No-Doz and get some rest, darlin'. You've been working too hard.

Sidd: No, really - listen to this [whereupon there is one of those sequences where it's clear time is passing, Sidd continues to talk for hours, various group members fall asleep, until Sidd is talking only to the bartender]. And that's how I made sure that Brobeck's lease could not be re-negotiated and that they accumulated massive, crushing debt. Oh, and I convinced Zager with the help of some margaritas that Akin Gump was much easier for his kids to draw. .... Sigh... no one appreciates good revenge anymore.

Thank God. I can't stand Bullock, and would boycott any movie that had her play me. Or had her playing the character I play. Whatever.

There are two scenes that define that movie for me. One is when she is about to turn the sharp corner and says something like "here we goooooooo" well, apparently, she didn't have anything else to say, or the director loved it so much that he edited the exact same words with the exact same phrasing in a second time.

Later in the movie Mr. Keanu, luckiest bad actor in the whole fucking world, Reeves is supposed to have some kind of nervous breakdown when his partner dies, and he looks like he is having a temper tantrum.

But I digress.

I don't think Bullock is good for you c2, absolutely not. I don't have any suggestions for me, but you know, I'm really not quite as perky as what's her name. But I wasn't insulted by your suggestion Flinty, don't worry

I'd love to see the day when David Duchovny and Charleston Heston play the same character in the same movie. What a mind-altering experience that would be. Sort of like those Edgar Allen Poe societies where eveyone onstage pretends to be Poe and they each read dueling renditions of the Raven.

Thumbs down Lawyer bills 81 hours in a single day.

UPPER DARBY, Pennsylvania (AP) -- A lawyer who made $421,327 representing a suburban school district in one year submitted a bill for an 81-hour day and three for 25-hour days, a newspaper review found.

http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Northeast....ap/index.html

I've done a lot of billing in my day, but this seems excessive even to me.

The Movie

I picture it more as French (freedom) farce.

Imagine some deal going down, and it's big. Lots of SEC filings, due diligence of a huge patent portfolio; and camera shots of all the cast going about their usual mediocre day.

For various reasons, they all end up involved in the deal (of course) and because it has to be wrapped up, everyone is stuck of Brobeck-Ex offices in East Palo Alto for the weekend.

No one realizes that they are the same people that they are bitching about online, until C2ed realizes the odd way that Sidd is never in the same room when his posts come online.

Wacky situations ensue, ending up with everyone drunk at a barbecue joint in EPA, mixing it up with the locals.
