This is true, but the word has various meanings, not all of which involve blowing things up. I think that literally it means "struggle", or maybe "fight" (you'll have to confirm this with Atticus). He is calling for a boycott, and those terms would apply.
Leaving aside, obviously, that if your struggle is over the cap on a fast-food ice cream container, you are in desperate need of a life.
