Pretty telling for a party that stands preening at the front of the church, proclaiming in a loud voice that they thank God they are not like those sinners over there (i.e., anyone unlike them). The babyJeebus is gonna have a surprise for them come the Judgement Day.

I am glad to see, though, that you agree that guilt by association is a rather stupid argument. By extension, it reflects a rather obsessive view of yours on West Virginia senators, but that's a discussion for another day.

I'm not sure I completely decry guilt by association, there is some responsibility. In a free land I suppose the final arbiter is whether or not you can look yourself in the mirror at the end of the day. If supporting and defending a Klan Kleagle is cool for some, in our country that is their right. I wouldn't brag about it though.
And I'm not obsessed with anything, I am just not afraid to call racism and other immorality or illegality out when I see it.

That article is almost a decade old. Looks like the GOP jettisoned him. He is irrelevant.
W is the conscience now. Or Reagan's legacy. Talk to me when Byrd is gone. Then it will mean something.
Of course, if we want to talk historical conscience, the dims are the party of slavery, the GOP the party of emancipation. Game. Set. Match.

I don't think it is backsliding. My point was that assuming I am not a registered Republican then I have no formal affiliation with the Republican party and thus my actions don't reflect on it and its actions don't reflect on me.
As far you know, you don't even know if I voted for Bush. I may have wrote my own name in. Which would be consistent wiht the one affiliation I do have and acknowledge.

1. He disavowed it.
2. It said conservatives, not Republicans. I am not even sure what a conservative is in that context.
3. The tense used is "was", past tense. Which by implication means he is no longer.
4. The Donkey party was the party of slavery. I would be more concerned with that was then the was related to Helms.

Hypothetically true, to be sure, though were it so, I'd have to say that the Republican party has received from you more online love and idolatry for less actual cash and actual voting support than any activist in recent memory. Diffrerent strokes, I suppose.
In any event, I look forward to your fresh new posting approach in which you consciously decline to misattribute the perceived positions of prominent Democrats to posters on this board.

Its an audience of 10 people. On a good day. I don't think the Republican party is receiving anything.
My work on the DU or Hillary.org at subverting the dialogue there, maybe a little more. But those sites have 1000s of posters, so the equation is different.
