Is it that you don't think Warren was a "political" type when appointed or that you think he had judicial experience. I looked up the history - he was gov. of California for 10 years before being appointed, and AG before that. He'd run for VP with Dewey. No prior judicial experience that I saw. Lots of political payback involved.
Kind of like Taft going on the bench.
