I've never been there, so I'll have to take your word for it. I'm sure that journalists brave enough to go to Baghdad and venture out on the streets would say it's just like Detroit.

Do people ever tell you you're way too serious?

Only on the internet.

My point was only that a certain level of violence is something we've come to accept here- why does Ty expect Baghdad to be safe? Do more Baghdad residents per capita die per week than Detroit residents? Sure. Will that be true in 2 years? I bet not. But the shock of violence seems hypocritical to me as someone looking at US news reports.

To be fair, you should mention your page doesn't accept comments from right wing people.

Or from RT. I think it's reverse-discrimination.

I think most of the blog comments are from Penske, suggesting that a higher form of artificial intelligence is involved.

The bitterness is still way too high. This conversation, like mine before, goes nowhere. I just picture all of these people around Ty patting his wrist and saying "yes, dear" and rolling their eyes.
I think that description holds for everyone who posts here regularly.

If that means I have to read Ayn Rand, pass, thanks.

New Rankings In!!

So, to make people's positions clearer, (or to completely disprove a quiz), here are the rankings of the libertarian test from the scores I could find this morning before having enough coffee to see straight:

Gattigap 10
Ty 11
Bilmore 18
Panda 20
Spanky 40
Club 43
Burger 54
Slave 59

Given that the test goes to 130, I'd say we're almost entirely a left-of-center crowd.

I'd like to see where BRC rates.

I couldn't even get it to open. However, having something of a libertarian bent myself, I do not need some stupid quiz over the internet to tell me about myself. My score is 23. You fucking sheep. Baaaaaaaa.

Unable to follow direction? You're gonna do closer to 85.

The numbers just don't work unless you're projecting:

(a) that Hussein would live to be 700, or

(b) nuclear war between Iraq and Israel or Iran.

P.S. "An American teenager" is quite generic. I would not willingly trade my daughter's life for the lives of 10,000 people I don't know. "Push a button -- they live & she dies." I'm not pushing it.

At the same time, however, I would encourage her to serve in the military (if she shows any interest), and would honor and respect her decision as an adult to put herself in harm's way in service to her country. I would also not oppose policies that put her in harm's way, if I thought the risk was worth the reward, and did not believe that the policymakers were foolish and/or incompetent.
